Our mission is to bridge the gap between arts careers and non-arts professional careers. By identifying transferable skills, examining overlapping interests, promoting creatives in the workplace, and incorporating arts into civic engagement, we aim to help communities and individuals thrive.
Artists helping artists.
We are former performing arts professionals who, through the rough and tumble game of life, learned that a career path doesn't have to be forever, no matter the amount of talent, passion, or knowledge. Out of the Arts came about as a result of our own personal experiences and conversations as we switched from full-time arts careers to non-arts careers.
While we had each other to vent to, we found ourselves wishing there had been a voice there that could help lead us in the right direction, and to reassure us that what we were doing was alright when we had no idea where we were headed. We've zigged, we've zagged, we've fallen, and we've helped each other up. Now, we want to use our own experiences to help others as well.
Changing careers is terrifying, confusing, and draining. Leaving behind a passion is excruciating. But we've come out the other side resolute and with a new hope for ourselves and the future. Our goals are simple: (1) We want to encourage everyone to live the life they want and to find a job to support that life. (2) We aim to offer empathy, advice, and wisdom to those seeking to change careers. (3) We aspire to give arts professionals a platform to connect and thrive while growing or transitioning to a career in another industry. (4) We want to remind job seekers and employers alike that the skills gained through performing arts professions are extraordinary and valuable.
In short, we want to give you what we didn't have as we navigated the difficult path from the arts world to the non-arts world.
